After trying to keep it a secret for a long time — despite the growing number of closed game testers — Valve has finally acknowledged its latest MOBA shooter game called Deadlock.
Despite this development, Deadlock is still under a very restricted beta-testing phase. But your chances of testing the game are never zero, especially now that Valve has put up a store page on Steam.
With that said, let’s show you some ways how you can test out the upcoming game from Valve before its official release and join the growing number of people who already did.
- Benefits and limitations of Steam Link
- Where to get free Steam keys
- How to top up your Steam Wallet in the Philippines
How to access Deadlock beta
Since the game’s Steam page states that it is under “limited access”, you can only beta test the game in two ways:
- Receive a random invite from Valve
- Receive an invite from a friend who’s already testing the game
If you haven’t received an invite from Valve, you can get one from a friend. What you can do is see which of your friends is already playtesting the game. You can do that by going to the game’s Steam page, and on the right, there’s a section that shows you friends “that already own this game.”
From there, you can see the avatars of your friends that are already playing Deadlock. You can message them directly and ask if they can send you an invite.
How to send invites to play Deadlock beta
If you’ve convinced a friend to send you an invite to play the game, you can ask them to simply do the steps below:
- Go to the Deadlock start menu page. On the bottom right, click “invite your friends.”
- A pop-up will show the list of your Steam friends. Choose the friend you want to send an invite to.
- That’s it, you’re done. But, bear in mind Valve’s notice that “invites are typically sent out within 1-2 days, but sometimes may take longer.”
But if you don’t have a friend who’s part of the beta testing, we suggest doing any of these two things: First, you can wait as Valve has been gradually sending out invites to a wave of people. Second, you can try searching on forums and group pages where a good samaritan already playing the game is willing to send out invites.
As for the official release date, the game’s Steam page states that it is still in “early development with lots of temporary art and experimental gameplay,” which means that a finally, market-ready version won’t be ready anytime soon.
