Liberty Games, a company based in the United Kingdom that sells and distributes gaming equipment and consoles, conducted a study to find out the most loved and hated video games, consoles, and characters in every country — including the Philippines.
According to the company, the most loved video game franchise in the Philippines is The Last of Us, while the most hated franchise in the country is Battlefield.
Meanwhile, the most loved video game character is Pokemon’s leading monster, Pikachu, while the most hated character is Crash Bandicoot. As for consoles, it is said that Filipinos prefer the PlayStation the most.

As a whole, Liberty Games said that the most loved video game franchise in the world is Spyro the Dragon while the most hated is Battlefield. Meanwhile, the most liked game character is Mario from the Super Mario franchise, while the most disliked personality is his brother, Luigi. Liberty Games conducted the study by creating a list of the biggest franchises, the most iconic gaming characters of all time, and a list of current top consoles. They then collected a huge sample of geotagged tweets mentioning the names on the list and studied them for “positivity vs negativity using a HuggingFace, an AI sentiment analysis tool.”
