Last week, a popular streamer who goes by the name Curtoss on Twitch shaved his hair to raise money for a charity, only to find a fairly noticeable indentation on his head.
Curtoss’s reaction was one of astonishment as he gazed at the dent atop his skull. “I’ve got an indent right here! This is where my headphones go,” he said. Yep, prolonged use of headphones can leave a dent because of the pressure of the headphones on the scalp.
Video clips of Curtoss shaving his head have gone viral on social media, with other gamers sharing photos of their own indented heads from wearing headphones. On Reddit, the topic is brought up every now and then for discussion, with some users even asking for recommendations for headphone models that won’t deform their noggin.

But for anyone worried about permanent damage caused by prolonged use of headphones, worry not. The dents and other alterations caused by headphones are only temporary. Your head and hair will return to their normal appearance after a few hours, or even faster when you gently massage your scalp.
As pointed out by GamingBible, a study found that it would take at least 135kg to produce a fracture on the skull, and no headphones can exert a clamping force of such magnitude. You ought to be more worried about hearing loss instead.
