About eight years since its first debut on PC, EA announced that The Sims 4 is going to be free to play.

The Sims 4 will be free to play starting October 18, 2022. What does this mean? The base game can be downloaded for free on Windows PC, Mac, Playstation 5 and 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

But what if you already bought and paid for the game before October 17? EA says that they will be giving you a gift of the upcoming Desert Luxe Kit instead. This new DLC will feature tons of southwestern desert-themed items and furniture.

However, since its release, the game already had 12 expansions. So if you’d be getting the base version, which is the free one, you’d be missing out on tons of new features.

Still, being one of the classics from the franchise, it’s nice to rekindle some moments with the game. Plus, a chance for those who’ve been wanting to try the game for years to finally do it.

Moreover, EA says that developer Maxis is currently developing “new and meaningful experiences for players” as it continues to develop and release new kits, packs, and Sims delivery express drops.
