Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has signed an executive order for the creation of a special committee to help Iloilo City become the esports capital of the Philippines.

Executive Order 134, which was signed back on November 11, creates the Iloilo City Esports Committee (ICEC), which is tasked to formulate and execute the Iloilo Esports Roadmap 2023 that will help develop and support the gaming scene in the said city.

This project will be done alongside ILO Esports, which will help execute gaming workshops and tournaments in the city.

ILO Esports founder Jamar Montehermoso said that they plan on creating Ilonggo teams for popular competitive games like Valorant, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

The said teams will compete in local competition, including in Moonton-organized tournaments, which will then help them enter the national and international fights.

As of the moment, the organizers are focused on creating partnerships and growing their community, and later this year, they plan to set up a headquarters.
