GCash, one of the country’s leading mobile wallet apps, is rolling out a new way to pay with its tap-to-pay feature.

The GCash Tap-to-Pay feature allows users to pay sellers by simply tapping their mobile phone on accredited payment terminals, such as Mastercard and other partner POS terminals.

This feature provides users the convenience of contactless payment instead of scanning a QR code or swiping a GCash card. It is also free of charge.

However, this feature requires users’ phones to have Near-Field Communications (NFC) capability, so mobile phones without built-in NFC technology will not be able to enjoy it.

As of the recent announcement, it’s only available for Android users, so iOS and Huawei devices may have to wait for further updates. Please note that some devices may have to turn on their NFC functionality in their phone settings.

The GCash Tap to Pay feature is also currently only available to some Fully Verified users. To check if you’ve been selected, tap “View All” Services on the homepage and locate the “Tap to Pay icon.” If you haven’t seen it, your account may not have been selected for the earlier batches, but rest assured, they are rolling out the feature gradually.

How to activate Tap to Pay:

Step 1: Login to GCash and tap “View All.”

To pay transactions with Tap N’ Pay:

Step 1: Login to GCash and tap “Tap to Pay.”

Step 2: Hold your phone near the payment terminal.

Step 3: Wait for the confirmation message.

Your total payment will then be charged from your GCash wallet’s balance. GCash may also share some necessary transactions with their partner merchants to complete the payment.

You’ll receive an app notification and be redirected to the confirmation page.

This new feature is a great innovation for GCash, as more people use the app for daily transactions. It not only gives users more convenience but also gives your phone’s NFC feature a new life.
