Apple recently released a slightly refreshed iPad, which is aptly named as the iPad (2017). For some reason, Apple didn’t bother to have a more distinguishable name for this device.
If I’ll give some of my naming suggestions, this thing can be called the iPad 2017, iPad 9.7, the iPad semi-Pro, or just another iPad. I’m just kidding, but they could’ve at least named it differently to avoid confusion.
But on a more serious note, this iPad is still the iconic iPad. There’s not tablet that comes close to this when it comes to entertainment, gaming, and productivity. Some Windows hybrids can definitely contest as they have full desktop support, but the iPad 2017 is so streamlined and easy to use compared to its competitors. And to top all that, it has an incredible battery life to keep up in day to day usage.
At first glance, the iPad 2017 looks very identical to the iPad Pro, primarily due to its size. However, everything looks very different when you dig in deeply. For one, this new iPad is heavier than the Pro, a compromise in the design that’s is inevitable due to its more affordable price tag.
Also, instead of using an A9X chip, the iPad (2017) only has an Apple A9 inside it, the same processor that can be found in their 2015 flagship smartphone, the iPhone 6S. This new tablet only has an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing one, rather than a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel combo that can be found on the Pro.
Thankfully, the iPad 2017 still has Touch ID and a 32.4Wh battery that is said to have a 10-hour life. You can also choose from different color variants: Silver, Gold and Space Gray.
