Last week, a teardown of the iPhone SE 2020 showed the phone as basically a repackaged iPhone 8. The two Apple smartphones are so similar that, in fact, you can even swap certain parts and components between the two and they will both still work.

Based on an the iFixit teardown, among the swappable parts include the cameras, SIM tray, the tactic engine for haptic feedback, and the display assembly. But worth noting when you replace the display is the loss of True Tone, which allows the iPhone to adjust its display based on ambient light conditions and provide a natural look.

Unfortunately, some important iPhone 8 parts are incompatible with the iPhone SE 2020.

For instance, the batteries of the two phones differ in their logic board connection. You can’t replace the A13 Bionic chip with the iPhone 8’s A11 Bionic. Swapping the Home button also doesn’t work because of Touch ID security limits.

But overall, it’s probably safe to say that the Apple iPhone SE 2020 would be cheap to repair.
