Praised for its flagship-level performance at an ‘affordable’ price point, the iPhone SE has been a popular choice among consumers looking for quality without breaking the bank. Now, rumors suggest that Apple may unveil the fourth iteration of this line in early 2025.

Speculation about the next iPhone SE has been circulating for the past few years. According to The Information, Apple is contemplating ramping up production starting this October. Historically, the first two iPhone SE models had a four-year gap between them, while the subsequent two models were released two years apart. Therefore, a three-year gap for the upcoming model seems plausible.

As usual, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 at its annual September event, so any news about the iPhone SE 4 might not be revealed until later. MacRumors suggest that the new SE could be unveiled either before the Lunar New Year in January or in March, aligning with the release timeline of the previous two SE models.

Rumors indicate that the iPhone SE 4 will feature significant changes compared to its predecessor. The new model will likely abandon the Touch ID sensor in favor of an all-display design with Face ID, making it a more modern device. Its screen size is expected to increase to around 6.1 inches, which is a massive jump from the previous generation’s 4.7-inches.

Like the iPhone 15 series, the iPhone SE 4 will reportedly forgo the lightning port in favor of USB Type-C. Another feature expected to be included is the multi-function action button, introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro. The SE 4 is also rumored to sport an OLED display, a technology Apple has utilized in its smartphones since the iPhone 12.

Pricing is always a critical factor for the SE series. The last iPhone SE was priced at $430, and according to industry insiders, Apple aims to keep the new model under $500.
