The Filipino inventor of a ‘flying car’ dubbed as ‘Koncepto Millenya’ has teamed up with Star 8 International – a green energy and e-vehicle firm – to make the invention come to life commercially.

Kyx Mendiola, an electronics enthusiast, used parts from drones to build a prototype of an electric flying vehicle which can carry one person for as long as 15 minutes within 15 to 20 feet high.

According to Star 8 CEO and President Jacob Maimon, the company and Mendiola will set up “electric manned aerial vehicles” or EMAV which can cater 2 passengers with a combined weight of 200 kilograms and can fly up to 1 hour.

When launched, the EMAV conceptualized by Mendiola will be dubbed Future 8.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) admitted that they do not have any regulations about manned aerial vehicles, but will look into possible regulations which might be patterned from other countries where similar aircraft are being developed.
