Cherry Mobile Amber, Jade, Gem: affordable dual-core smartphones

Cherry Mobile has promoted on a Facebook post its dual-core offerings for the holidays: the Jade, Gem, and Amber. All three are powered by Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and a MediaTek MTK6572 processor.

Cheapest of the three, the Cherry Mobile Jade is a 3.5-inch smartphone with HVGA resolution. Its CPU is clocked at 1GHz, while onboard RAM is 256MB and internal storage is 512MB. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Taking pictures can be done with a 3-megapixel rear shooter and a VGA front camera. Battery capacity is 1300mAh. Every purchase also comes with a free SIM Holder.

For Php2,999, the Cherry Mobile Gem offers a faster-clocked MTK6572 at 1.3GHz and a 4-inch IPS LCD with WVGA resolution. There’s 4GB internal storage this time, as well as 512MB of RAM. Cameras are also better: a 5-megapixel main camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. Connectivity features remain the same as the Jade’s, but the battery capacity is now 1400mAh. Purchasing the Gem also entitles buyers a free bag tag.

The third and last dual-core smartphone in the post is the Cherry Mobile Amber. Its price is the same as the Gem’s at Php2,999. As we’ve previously written about the device, its specs include 3G connectivity, a 1.2GHz MTK6572 processor, and a 4-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen. There’s 4GB internal storage available, with 512MB RAM onboard. Rear camera is the same as the Gem’s, but the front shooter only comes with 1.3MP resolution. A free bag tag is bundled in every unit.

All three dual-core smartphones also have dual-SIM configuration. Given the limited internal storage, it’s also safe to assume that all three have microSD slots for external storage expansion. All Cherry Mobile stores and kiosks nationwide are expected to have all three devices in stock for the holidays.
