CloudFone has unveiled its latest smartphone that’s aggressively priced under Php5k. The CloudFone Excite 501o is the company’s fruit in its “quest to bring the latest technologies within reach.”

For the price of Php4,999, the CloudFone Excite 501o offers a good package of specs. First off, it has a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor. CloudFone claims that this processor has extensive processing capabilities without becoming a strain to the battery. Android 4.4 KitKat comes preinstalled. The phone also has decent photo-taking capabilities thanks to its 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The CloudFone Excite 501o further sports 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. Do you want two phone numbers in one device? This smartphone offers dual SIM configuration with dual standby. Available in red or black, the Excite 501o has faux leather back that gives it a good texture and fits rights in your hands.

While it does manage to offer a lot for such an affordable price, the CloudFone Excite 501o does come with its own set of drawbacks. While the screen has the standard 5-inch size and in-plane switching technology (for accurate color reproduction in extreme viewing angles), its display resolution is subpar. 720p would have been better, but you will have to settle with qHD resolution only. You won’t really enjoy what you see on the screen as you would on, say, the 6-inch CloudFone Thrill 600FHD with its full HD resolution. And if you’re looking to take advantage of your network’s 4G coverage, you’ll have to choose another phone. The Excite 501o only has up to 3G connectivity.

Once again, Php4,999 is what you’ll have to hand over if you want a CloudFone Excite 501o. It should now be available in the company’s concept stores, kiosks and accredited dealers nationwide.
