Gionee Pioneer P4 owners, good news! Your capable yet budget-friendly smartphone is finally rolling out its Android KitKat update. But before you go opening your system settings for the OTA update, know that the download is only available in India at the moment. Philippine users will still have to wait for their turn.

Released in April 2014, the Gionee Pioneer P4 is a dual-SIM Android 4.4 Jelly Bean smartphone with a 4.5-inch 480-by-854 display. It’s powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, along with Mali 400 graphics and 1GB of RAM. It also features 8GB internal storage, 2-megapixel front- and 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras, and a battery with 1800mAh capacity. Thanks to its smooth performance, gaming prowess, ergonomic design, and aesthetic user interface, we gave it high praise in our review.

Gionee Philippines haven’t announced an exact date for the KitKat update, but it won’t probably be long before local owners are able to download the file (which is 808MB in size). After all, we did get an update for the S5.5 some time after India received theirs.
