The wait is finally over. The LG G3 flagship smartphone has been officially announced, bringing high-end specs in a simplistic design to take on the likes of Samsung and Apple.

What with several leaks revealing a lot about the LG G3, we already know it’s a smartphone that can easily compete against the Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8), and Xperia Z2. It’s superior by means of its display resolution, screen size, and thin bezels.

But perhaps the most notable aspect is the new camera. With an enhanced optical image stabilizer, the LG G3’s rear shooter touts 13-megapixel imagery with a new laser auto focus. This laser technology allows capturing sharp images faster, so much so that LG has simplified the shooting process: just tap on the screen to focus on an object, and the phone then automatically triggers the shutter.

With hardware all too similar with other recent high-end devices, the LG G3 differentiates itself through its software. With simplicity in mind, the user interface offers a minimalistic design with flat graphics. Intuitive features include a smart keyboard that adapts to the user’s typing habits, a smart notification a la Google Now that provides reminders and recommendations (such as weather reports and the removal of unused apps) when needed, and security options, including the Knock Code, Content Lock, and the Kill Switch.

While it’s already available in South Korea, other countries will have to wait until at least late in June to get their hands on the LG G3. The official price for the 16GB/2GB version is around Php30,400 in Singapore. There are five colors to choose from: metallic black, silk white, shine gold, moon violet, and burgundy red.
