OPPO has finally confirmed that the new Reno12 Series 5G is arriving in the Philippines on July 12.
Aside from the usual ‘Portrait Expert’ slogan, the new Reno12 5G and Reno12 Pro 5G are also the newest AI-powered smartphones from OPPO.
AI Eraser, now in version 2.0, makes it easier to remove unwanted objects in the background of photos. A dedicated “Remove People” feature also helps in quickly editing out photobombers. In addition, OPPO has improved the “Paint Over” and “Smart Lasso” features that was first introduced back in April.

The new OPPO Reno12 5G is equipped with a Sony LYT-600 main sensor with All Pixel Omni-Directional phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization. The Reno12 Pro 5G, on the other hand, comes with a 50-megapixel telephoto camera.
In terms of selfies, the Pro comes with a 50-megapixel sensor while the standard 12 only has a 32-megapixel shooter. Both phones support advanced AI Portrait features and “Natural Tone,” which can automatically adjust exposure based on the environment. This helps in taking better portrait and group shots.

Another notable feature is OPPO’s new AI LinkBoost. OPPO said that this is a new self-developed communication technology with a 360º Surround Antenna solution consisting of nine (9) individual antennas. It can help boost connectivity even in challenging scenarios. Furthermore, BeaconLink technology can boost Bluetooth connectivity uplink by up to 300%. It can also support Bluetooth-powered device-to-device voice calls with a distance of up to 200 meters in a disconnected environment.
To test it out, OPPO partnered with Smart Communications to check the connectivity of the OPPO Reno12 Series 5G in various scenarios. The tests included locations with weak signal, crowded areas, network switching, and recovery tests. The OPPO Reno12 5G and OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G reportedly performed well and outperformed other brands in all of the four (4) categories.
