After a few years, your smartphone battery can become your biggest headache when it’s unable to hold a charge and even die at the most inopportune moments. But with a dash of care, your smartphone might just survive a little longer.
Smartphone manufacturer OPPO recently shared some tips on the do’s and don’t of batteries and charging to correct several common misconceptions that contribute to reduced longevity. For instance, OPPO dissuades users from turning their phone off to save battery life, as the impact is insignificant given that modern lithium-ion batteries can maintain similar longevity whether the phone is in use or not.
The company also advises users to maintain a charge between 20 and 80 percent to optimize battery health. Avoid keeping the device charged at 100 percent, as it will recharge when it drops to 99 percent. This high charge can have an impact, albeit minor, on battery longevity. Don’t let the device battery deplete completely either before recharging, as doing so will also damage the battery.
Citing user concerns on fast charging technologies, OPPO is touting its SUPERVOOC technology. The company claims it is an optimized fast charging system that is capable of mitigating battery damage risks by using an intelligent charging algorithm, which ensures speedy charging while maintaining the safety of the device. On the other hand, the company is warning against the use of third-party chargers, as they may not adhere to safe voltage levels and thereby potentially cause harm.
As for OPPO-branded smartphones and other devices, OPPO offers software tools like Phone Manage that can help optimize the performance of the device by managing background processes and limiting power consumption. The company also suggests using Power Saving or Super Power Saving Mode, which reduces battery consumption by lowering the screen brightness, disabling unused background apps, and throttling certain CPU functions.
