Canalys Research released its latest report showing the state of the global smartphone market and the top brands that have the most market share during the second quarter of 2024.

The smartphone market has continued to grow for the last three quarters after it scored a 12% market growth in Q2 2024. As per Canalys Research Manager Amber Liu, this is thanks to the market’s continued optimism on new phones caused by innovations like “GenAI and recovering demand from the mass market.”

So, which brands dominated in Q2 2024 across the world? Well, we still got Samsung at number one owning 18% of the market. The release of the Galaxy S24 and its AI features got the market excited for the brand, and they will continue to do so with the new Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6.

Apple comes in as a close second with 16% market share. iOS 18 is big on AI, which a lot of people are excited to try out. But what could’ve helped Apple maintain its standing is the updated prices of its older models making them more attainable.

Xiaomi is at number 3 with 15%. The brand has appealing options on pretty much all market segments, so no surprises there. It is followed by vivo and TRANSSION, the company behind INFINIX, TECNO Mobile, and iTel.
