For two consecutive quarters, Transsion Holdings—owner of Itel, Infinix, and TECNO Mobile—has held the position of the top local smartphone vendor in the Philippines.

Based on the latest report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), Transsion gained so much traction in Q2 2023 after capturing 38.3 percent of the market—an uptick from 19.5 percent from the previous quarter.

BBK Electronics‘ realme, which previously held the same title for two years in a row, is now just a second-placer with 16.3 percent of total shipments.

Among the three brands under Transsion, TECNO Mobile provided the greatest success with a remarkable year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter growth of 237 percent and 145 percent, respectively.

TECNO credits its tremendous growth to its expanded channel coverage across the country as well as the release of various phone models, with the Spark 10 series taking the lead.

According to IDC, it’s the TECNO Spark 10 series’ ultra-low-end pricing or units priced below $100 that catapulted the brand to more than triple in growth on both quarterly and annual basis.

As of Q3 2023, the following smartphone brands made the top rankings:

  • Xiaomi for rising to the third spot from fifth, after taking an 11.5 percent market share.
  • OPPO after falling one place behind Xiaomi, with a 10.7 percent market share.
  • Samsung seeing a re-entry to the top five with a market share of 9.8 percent.

Surprisingly, vivo, which also previously held a good position in the top roster, is not included in the list.
