As of the second quarter of 2022, OPPO is no longer among the top five smartphone brands in the Philippines as it’s been replaced by Vivo.

With a 335.4-percent quarter-on-quarter increase, Vivo holds a 10.7-percent share of the Philippine market in terms of smartphone shipment according to the Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report by the International Data Corporation.

The top four smartphone brands in the country remain unchanged since Q1 2022, with Realme still the number one brand with a 21.8-percent share. Realme has retained the top spot for the sixth consecutive quarter.

Trailing behind Realme are the brands Transsion (Infinix, TECNO Mobile) (20.5%), Xiaomi (14.6%), and Samsung (11.8%). All five brands saw increases in shipment since the previous quarter.

Worldwide, however, the IDC reported an 8.7-percent year-on-year decline in smartphone shipments in Q2 2022.

Attributed to Vivo’s significant jump in shipment this quarter are two smartphones from the company’s entry-level lineup, the Y15s and Y15a, along with the high-end models in the X80 series.

Marketing efforts and promotional gaming events, such as Vivo Turbo Cup Challenge in July 2022, have also been cited to have boosted the company’s penetration into the mobile gaming market.
