Two new devices have been unveiled in the Google Play Store, one of which is the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition. It pretty much bears the design that’s reminiscent of Sony smartphones, but now running a pure Android 4.4 KitKat experience.
Except mainly for the newer operating system running inside, the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition is similar to the phablet that Sony revealed back in June. Equipped with an enormous 6.4-inch Triluminous display with 1080p resolution, the device is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM.
Despite its herculean appearance, the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition is amazingly sleek at only 6.5mm thin. Weighing 212g, it’s also not that heavy to carry around. Connectivity features include septi-band LTE, penta-band HSPA+, quad-band GSM/EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.

Users will be able to add a decent number of apps and files to the phone’s 16GB internal storage, complemented by a generous external expansion of up to 64GB. Like its Xperia Z cousins, the device is also waterproof and dust resistant.
So far, this phablet is available for only US buyers at a staggering $649. A global release is yet to be announced.
