They say education is the key to success. But what more if you could have yourself educated by one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world, like Harvard University? Better yet, do so free of charge.

The idea of free learning under the tutelage of Harvard University might seem wishful thinking, especially if for free. This is especially true knowing that getting admission to the university itself is not only tough but also very costly. But the reality is that this institution has been offering free online courses for anybody for years.

Courses to choose from

As of writing, 143 courses are being offered without a charge, spread across different levels—introductory, intermediate, and advanced—and different subjects. There are many subjects to choose from, ranging from arts and design, data science, business, education and teaching, computer science, health and medicine, humanities, mathematics, programming, theology, science, and social sciences.

Per the institution, the courses “are taught exclusively online, typically asynchronously to allow the learner to complete the work within a wider designated time frame,” with durations lasting a week or over 12 weeks.

Anybody who will be successfully enrolling in any of the offered programs will have access to various learning materials, including videos and readings prepared by the instructors themselves.

Get Harvard certified

However, while the claim for free admission to any course is true, it is worth noting that the offer comes with a catch. Specifically, an enrollee will have the option to pay a fee to get a certification of completion as authenticated by Harvard University itself. The cost of which will range from $99 or Php5,600 to $299 or Php16,800.

But while the certificate itself is completely optional, earning it officially would be beneficial for anyone who is looking to solidify their resume as it can be added as part of their training experience.
