Job satisfaction is lowest in the National Capital Region (NCR) and among Gen Z workers, according to the Employee Job Happiness Index by Jobstreet Philippines’ parent company SEEK.

Filipino workers in the NCR rated their job satisfaction on a scale from 1 to 7, resulting in an average score of 4.46. Traffic congestion and mobility issues were cited as key factors behind this relatively low score.

Among age groups, Gen Z respondents or specifically those aged 23 to 27 scored an average of 4.28. Jobstreet suggests a widening gap in how younger employees perceive work culture and work-life balance compared to older colleagues may have led to lower job satisfaction among Gen Z employees.

In contrast, workers from Mindanao reported higher job satisfaction with an average score of 4.59. Remote workers and professions with work-from-home setups also expressed high levels of job satisfaction, scoring 4.82. They also rated their work-life balance highly with a score of 4.92.

Overall, 85 percent of the 900 respondents expressed positive or neutral feelings about their job satisfaction, an increase from 68 percent prior to the pandemic. The survey identified career development, training opportunities, and salary as significant contributors to job satisfaction.
