Don’t throw your random junk and waste willy-nilly anywhere, because with the TrashCash app you can recycle stuff and make a little on the side.
Available in iOS and Android, the TrashCash app is developed by Filipino software developer Benjoe Vidal in an effort to give people an incentive to recycle and prevent plastic waste from polluting the environment. Plastic waste, among other things, is a major pollution issue in the Philippines that even major online retailers are urged to stop using single-use plastic for packaging.

Earning a little extra from your plastic garbage is easy. Just open TrashCash, scan the garbage you’re recycling and receive directions to the nearest collection center. You will then earn app points that you can use to redeem rewards such as grocery items and food products from the app’s partner retailers and restaurants.
The way TrashCash figures out what kind of plastic you have is by means of machine learning. Its optical object recognition powered by artificial intelligence allows the app to identify the type of plastic material and educate the user on how to discard it responsibly.
Have you tried it out? What do you think about it?
