Amazon just dropped exciting news for all the digital and e-book enthusiasts out there.
Amazon Kindle, the popular e-reader, has added a new item to its lineup: the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, which currently costs $279.99 (~Php16,000).
For the first time in a long time, Kindle deviated from its typical black-and-white readers and finally introduced an all-new colored Kindle.
As mentioned in their announcement, the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition brings color to Kindle without compromise, which means it will retain its high contrast, fast page turns, auto-adjusting front lights, and long battery life.
Personally, as a long-time Kindle user, I’ve been accustomed to the monochromatic display of Kindle Paperwhite. However, I sometimes feel that adding a little color to the e-reader wouldn’t hurt, similar to how books will have colored covers. This is why I think the Kindle Colorsoft will gain the same popularity from users.
With Amazon Kindle Colorsoft, users can now see book covers in color on the Kindle library or Store, highlight phrases in color, and view book photos and images in color.
Here are some technical design upgrades to ensure that Kindle Colorsoft can match the market’s expectations:
- It uses an oxide backplane with custom waveforms for fast performance and high contrast on both color and black-and-white content.
- The custom display includes a new light guide with nitride LEDs that can enhance color and increase brightness without washing out the details.
- You can zoom in on images without worrying about pixelation.
- You can also choose between standard or vibrant color styles.
The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft now uses wireless charging, with a battery life of up to eight weeks (standard Kindle Paperwhite lasts up to 12 weeks). It is also waterproof, so you won’t have to worry about reading in the bath, pool, or beach.
Other related Kindle news:

- An updated Kindle Paperwhite (starting at $159.99 or ~Php9,200) is also set to be released. This is the “fastest Kindle” yet, with a thinner and larger 7-inch display.
- Kindle (priced at $109.99 or ~PHhp6,300) also released a new entry-level Kindle, which is small and lightweight (only 158 grams) and fits perfectly on one hand or in your back pocket.
