Vivo is officially upgrading the software of some of their popular devices. In a recent Facebook post, the company has announced that the Android Nougat update for the Vivo V5, V5 Plus, and V5s are finally ready.
A lot of smartphone manufacturers today neglect after-sales support in the form of software updates. This move by Vivo is a good sign and it provides us hope that they will continue to deliver updates as Google serves them.
The Vivo V5, V5 Plus, and V5s are all running on the outdated Android Marshmallow OS. It’s been a long time coming, but the Android Nougat update is finally available. It would have been nice if Vivo skipped Nougat and went directly to Oreo, but we’ll take what we can get.
Hopefully, the company’s current flagship Vivo V7+ gets the same treatment soon. The said device currently runs on Android 7.1 Nougat, but it would be nice to see the latest 8.0 Oreo update running on it.
If you have the following Vivo devices, you can go to your nearest Vivo Service Center to have your device updated, free of charge. OTA (over-the-air) availability of the update is not yet available.
