In other iPhone news, France ordered last Tuesday to halt the sales of iPhone 12 as they are apparently emitting excessive electromagnetic radiation.
ANFR, an independent French agency for regulated radio frequencies, said that their testing found that the iPhone 12 emits more electromagnetic waves that can affect users.
They then ordered Apple to “remove the iPhone 12 from the French market from September 12 due to the model exceeding the limit” for electromagnetic absorption by the body.
What’s more, they are also ordering Apple to recall all iPhone 12 units that were sold in France.
According to ANFR, their testing found out that the iPhone 12’s Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was at 5.74 watts per kilogram. That’s higher than the limit set by the European Union on mobile devices that users always have on their hands or pockets.
However, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) advice contradicts ANFR’s findings. Based on WHO’s website, a large number of studies suggest that there are “no adverse health effects have been established as being caused by mobile phone use.”
In a statement to the BBC, Apple said that they will contest ANFR’s findings and have provided them with their internal and third-party lab results. Apple noted that the iPhone 12 hasn’t had issues in other markets worldwide and the device has been considered as compliant with regulations regarding radiation levels.
