Globe Telecom has broken from its iPhone launch tradition of extravagance and instead delivered “a simpler and more meaningful” event intended to raise awareness for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
The local telco made its launch of the latest iPhone 5S and 5C a place where subscribers could bring in relief goods. Globe also gave its own fair share of donation by matching the total money that subscribers contributed via GCASH. All proceeds will be given to the Philippine National Red Cross, a major organization directing relief operations.
Besides the launch, Globe’s other philanthropic efforts in its Bangon Pinoy program are free call and text services, network restoration, and helping to rebuild the ravaged communities. The program first started back in 2009 when a couple of typhoons also put the country under much distress.
