The rumors turned out to be true. Leica ditched Huawei for Xiaomi, and Huawei confirmed it is over.

In an email response to Android Authority, Huawei revealed that its partnership with Leica ended on March 31.

The two companies began collaborating in 2016, with Huawei releasing flagship smartphones over the years that came equipped with Leica cameras.

The first of these smartphones was the Huawei P9, followed by the likes of P30 and Mate 10. With the partnership now over, last year’s P50 series is the last batch of phones from Huawei to feature Leica cameras.

Last week, a tipster claimed Leica was looking for a new partner amid Huawei’s declining smartphone sales resulting from the US trade ban in 2019.

Huawei previously called these reports on the termination of the partnership as fake news.
