A competitor to the Microsoft Surface is in the works, and we have Huawei to thank for that.
The company’s CEO itself published a teaser photo on Weibo of a tablet that can also transform into a laptop. It’s able to switch between these two modes by means of a detachable keyboard. There seems to be no official name yet, but rumors believe this to be the Matebook.
Not much is known about this mysterious Huawei hybrid device. But as teased in the photo, the Matebook might come with a fully integrated stylus support. That means pressure sensitivity, handwriting recognition, and the whole shebang. In addition, this device might come equipped with a 12.9-inch display and powered by an Intel processor. Will it run Windows 10? Yes, probably.
And there’s one more thing: this Matebook device is aimed for business users. So expect premium quality attached with a premium price tag. Then again, Huawei did release the Nexus 6P with great specs for an affordable price, so maybe this Matebook might end up within reach of the average consumer’s budget.
We don’t have to wait too long to learn more about this alleged Huawei Matebook. Its product launch is scheduled on February 21 at MWC 2016 Barcelona.
