Since last year, India has started to ban a couple of Chinese companies from importing products to the country.
Included in the ban are Chinese apps like AliPay, PUBG Mobile, Baidu, and more. Huawei was also one of the first companies to hit by the new rule.
Now, reports are saying that WiFi devices coming from China will also be banned from India. This affected big names like Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Lenovo, Dell, and HP. In fact, all brands that use China-made WiFi mobiles are not allowed to enter India.
As per the report, India postponed the import of electronic equipment from China that has WiFi. That includes devices like smartphones, smartwatches, laptops, and even Bluetooth speakers and headsets.
The delay apparently started last November 2020, ordered by the Wireless Planning and Coordination Department (WPC) of India’s Ministry of Communications.
Until now, 80 applications from brands from China, United States, and Korea are on WPC awaiting approval.
Other than international companies, domestic brands in India are also waiting for WPC’s approval so finished products would finally arrive from China.
