Lalamove Philippines has been on the receiving end of multiple customer complaints regarding fraudulent activities on its platform, often caused by selling or sharing driver accounts. This led to the implementation of a new security feature in hopes of ending the issue.
With the help of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Lalamove wants to assure its customer base that they remain reliable and that customer packages will safely arrive at their destination.
The security feature implemented is facial recognition authentication within the Driver App, where drivers must verify their identities first during access. This will ensure that only authorized and registered drivers can access the platform.
To use this feature, Lalamove partner drivers must stop moving and ensure they have proper lighting and clearly visible faces during the facial recognition authentication and within the time limit.
Drivers with mismatched information are subject to routine monitoring and are added to a watchlist, which triggers further investigation to prevent potential misuse. Offenders identified through these measures will be permanently banned from the platform under Lalamove’s one-hit policy.
Lalamove also reminded its customers to double-check driver details, such as name, photo, and vehicle information, before handing over items. They can also report any issues through the in-app chat.
This is a good development that aims to reduce the occurrences of fraud within the platform.
