Meralco announced that it would resume service disconnection after the Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna were placed under general community quarantine (GCQ) until May 31.

As per the electric provider, they will resume the disconnection of households with unpaid or overdue bills but promised to remain “compassionate” with affected users. They will also arrange lighter schedules of payment.

Meralco covers areas as far as the Quezon Province, which was also placed under GCQ, and north of Pampanga, currently under modified GCQ.

Despite this news, Meralco said they would remain considerate and compassionate and help its customers manage their liabilities.

“Given the heightened restrictions still being implemented during the GCQ, we continue to take into consideration the challenges our customers are facing amid these difficult times,”

Ferdinand Geluz, Meralco Chief Commercial Officer

Geluz added that their “continued consideration” will help ease the burden of their customers as they will give additional time to settle their bills.
