OnePlus just made a big announcement, and it’s related to a fancy new smartphone. Any guesses?

Well, as you’ve read from the headline, the first OnePlus foldable phone has been confirmed. We’ve seen a huge demand and public interest in foldable phones, and the tech giant wants in.


During its “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond” panel discussion at the ongoing MWC 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, the company confirmed that its first foldable phone will come out in the second half of 2023.

“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market,” said OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu.

OnePlus have been on the roll lately after releasing new smartphones to tap different price segments. Their latest flagship, the OnePlus 11, combines a couple of impressive hardware, especially in the camera department. In fact, during the event, they showcased a special Concept version of the device that has its new Active CryoFlux technology.

The brand also demoed ray tracing on the OnePlus 11 using a game called Tower of Fantasy. The device is also the first Snapdragon Spaces-ready phone in the market.

During its Fast & Smooth to Beyond Panel, the company also shared its approach to achieving its goal of providing the ultimate and industry-leading fast and smooth experience. That includes powerful hardware and software that are tuned to work seamlessly together using chipset-level algorithms.

The company also highlighted that they are constantly listening and learning from its community to help them improve the overall user experience.

Moreover, the company also shared its plans on building a more robust smart ecosystem in the next 3 to 5 years. This will help generate new OnePlus phones, tablets, TVs, wearables, and IoT products that work seamlessly together.
