Just last week, OPPO posted a teaser photo of what seems to be an immediate follow-up to the OPPO F7. The image shows the silhouette of the said device, with the words “Coming Soon” and the device’s actual name, the OPPO F9.
The image projects the back of the said device. Which hints that it will have a dual rear camera setup, a step-up from the OPPO F7, which only had a single primary camera.
Now, the company’s arm in Malaysia posted yet another teaser of the said device (Image above). On their official Twitter page, OPPO Malaysia shared a picture that provides a clue of what the OPPO F9’s face might look like.
As you can see, the smartphone is expected to have an even smaller display notch. So small that it will most likely house the front-facing camera and nothing more. Something that we already saw on the Essential Phone.
The image is accompanied with a bizarre caption and an announcement saying that it will have a “Waterdrop screen”. This is the first time that we’re hearing this terminology. However, it’s safe to assume that the OPPO F9 will have some waterproof protection, an IP67 certification at the least.
But other than that, OPPO is yet to provide us with more details about the device. However, the OPPO F9 was spotted getting a Bluetooth certification last week. And as it turns out, it will also come with a “Pro” variant.
Both the OPPO F9 and F9 Pro models use the same Bluetooth module that the OPPO F7 has. This means that they might also come with a MediaTek Helio P60 processor. There’s also a chance that OPPO will tap Qualcomm and use their Snapdragon 636 chipset instead.
The company is still mum about the official launch of the F9. But considering that they already started a hype around it, we might see the OPPO F9 as early as next month.
