Smartphone performance has seen huge growth in the past couple of years, so it blurs the line between midrange and high-end devices.
This is probably the reason why Qualcomm is launching a new line of chipsets. At Mobile World Congress 2018, the company just announced the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 line. It is a new family of chipsets that will fill the huge gap between the budget-friendly 600-series and the high-end 800-series of processors.
With the new Snapdragon 700 line, consumers can expect features that are usually found on a more expensive device. The company hasn’t revealed the exact numbers yet. However, they did reveal some of the key departments where major improvements were made.
Artificial Intelligence is Qualcomm’s top priority in this series. It’s just like what MediaTek is focusing on in their new Helio P60 chipset — which is also slated for budget devices. Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 700 series will have a Hexagon Vector processor, and the usual Adreno graphics and Kyro CPU.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 series is also expected to bring improvements in the camera department. It will have a better image signal processor, slow-motion recording, and of course, benefits of AI in the camera performance.
The new chipset series will also come with faster performance, more efficient battery management, and some improvements in the connectivity department like the use of Bluetooth 5.0 as well as better LTE and WiFi features.
The first devices to sport the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 700 chipsets are expected to arrive before the Q2 of 2018 ends.
