The first benchmark scores for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 are out, and it delivered promising performance.
Announced a couple of weeks ago, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor is expected to power the latest flagships that will come out in 2020. From what it looks like, future high-end smartphones will be really powerful.

The new Snapdragon 865 got a 3445 multi-core score in Geekbench 5 under performance mode. The reference device that Qualcomm used went side-by-side with the iPhone 11 Pro’s A13 Bionic processor. On the other hand, it also scored noticeably higher to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 855 (check the Pixel 4 XL’s score).
It also got a score of 540,000 in AnTuTu 8. That’s significantly higher than the 506,000 score that the iPhone 11 Pro has.

Just like most latest chipsets, the new Snapdragon 865 will have improved AI support. In fact, Qualcomm really went hard with it that their latest flagship processor got a score of 108,650 on AImark. It puts the iPhone 11 Pro’s 59,330 to shame.
Besides its killer performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 will also bring other innovations to the table. One of them is the bigger push to 5G connectivity.

It’s said that this processor will be exclusive to 5G smartphone. Albeit it will still need a dedicated Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
This latest 5G modem will have support for SA/NSA, mmWave, and sub-6GHz bands. It shall provide substantially faster download and upload speeds.
