Rakuten Viber announced that it will soon launch Viber Pay in the Philippines, its new digital payment service.

The new Viber Pay will allow users to easily send and receive money — as easy as sending messages. Filipinos can get first dibs of the feature by updating their Viber app to the latest version and joining the waitlist via the new Pay tab.

Viber will roll out the update in the coming days, with the early access starting in September.

Once in, users can activate their digital wallet by completing a signup process. Once done, users can start sending money to their contacts or put money into their wallets via other mobile wallet apps like GCash and Maya, mobile banking, or over-the-counter. Viber Pay can also use the service on merchants that accept InstaPay.

Moreover, users can increase their transaction limit from Php50,000 to Php100,000 if they verify their accounts by uploading a selfie and a valid ID. Verified accounts can also withdraw funds and request money from their contacts using a QR code.

Viber announced that a Business wallet version is also coming soon and Filipinos will be the first to experience it. This one lets businessmen receive payments from customers via a QR code and will have a higher transaction limit of Php500,000.

The Viber Pay service is created in partnership with Paynamics, one of the biggest digital payment providers in the Philippines.
