Details surrounding Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship anniversary device is all over the place. And with these new leaks, we get a more detailed glimpse of what the company has in store for us with the Xiaomi Mi 8.
In a leaked promotional video below, we see Xiaomi’s possible take on the iPhone X’s Animoji feature. The advertisement shows a lot of familiar faces such as the Pig Face emoji, Panda, Fox, and Xiaomi’s own rabbit mascot.
This also confirms the leaks surrounding the Mi 8’s advanced 3D facial recognition which makes its rumored display notch more useful and bearable.

Other than the promo video, ad posters for the Xiaomi Mi 8 have also surfaced online. The materials do confirm good and bad details about the upcoming flagship device.
For starters, the Mi 8 will unsurprisingly have a dual rear camera. Sources say that it will have better performance than the Mi Mix 2S — Xiaomi’s best camera smartphone today.
In addition, the image shows a fingerprint scanner at the back. This means that it wouldn’t possibly come with the revolutionary on-screen fingerprint sensor of the Vivo X21.
The last leak is the closest thing we can have on seeing a Mi 8 finished product. What we have here is the final retail box. Although the packaging has this minimalistic look on the front, flipping it on the back reveals some of the key features that it will have.

One, it will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. However, we already knew it since day one. What’s interesting is the device is said to have a dual-GPS module.
It looks like this new GPS technology is a big deal for Xiaomi has they’ve been boasting about it in the other leaked promo materials. So, we’re quite excited to see how this thing actually works.
The writing on the box also states that one of the dual rear cameras has a 20-megapixel sensor. It also says that the packaging will include a USB Type-C audio dongle, which clearly means that it won’t sport a headphone jack.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to be unveiled on May 31.
