After having been temporarily forced to a close for an alleged case of non-payment of taxes and the absence of a legitimate business permit, PLDT Inc. subsidiary Smart Communications Inc. managed to reopen to the public its Makati HQ following an agreement with the Makati LGU.

A compromise settlement was established on March 2, laying out the terms of the settlement regarding the firm’s outstanding tax troubles.

Per PLDT, via a disclosure to the stock exchange, Smart was able to submit its accounting records that show the company’s generated profits within Makati’s dominion beginning from January 2012 up to December 2015.

Keen on maintaining the business in one of the country’s fastest-growing cities, Smart promised to remain committed to its compliance with the city’s local tax laws in addition to the relevant national decrees.

Despite the issue, Smart assures its clients and the public that its services will remain available and accessible to everyone.
