Network service provider Globe now has a bigger 5G reach, thanks to 380 new sites it established in the first three months of this year.

The provinces of Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Misamis Oriental, and Metro Manila became hosts to the extended facilities, subsequently giving 95 percent access to the population within the National Capital Region (NCR) and 84 percent to the people in both Visayas and Mindanao combined.

The road to 5G is not without its hefty cost to build. For Globe, it took Php92.8 billion to lay out the necessary infrastructure into reaching the 2,000 mark, which included some 1,407 fresh cell locations.

This year is not any much different as the telecom company earmarks some Php89 billion for the continued improvement of 5G in the Philippines, which suggests the building of new cell sites, an upgrade to existing ones, and connecting more households to the internet.
