Meralco’s telco arm, Radius Telecoms Inc., announced its plans to expand in Visayas and Mindanao.

The announcement comes after Radius Telecoms reached Clark, Pampanga, and Cebu City last year.

In fact, despite the hindrances caused by the health crisis, the telco boasts the milestones they achieved last year. It includes coverage expansions in Clark and Cebu.

To achieve its plan of becoming a full-grown telco, the company aims to expand in major areas in Visayas and Mindanao — which are also the places where DITO Telecommunity initially operates.

Moreover, Radius Telecoms has also introduced five new products for enterprise and small and medium enterprises (SME) customers.

They have also upped their core network capacity to 100GB and have built the Singapore Point-of-Presence (POP) on the Equinix SG1 Data Center.

The company has rolled out core fiber of 264 kilometers, 30 new co-locations, 3 data centers, and 10 notes to meet the network requirements. They also have seven Optical Line Terminal nodes, which were commissions for its key locations.

For those unfamiliar, Radius Telecoms is behind Red Broadband, which was launched in November 2020 for the residential market.

In partnership with Cignal TV, Radius was able to offer unlimited fiber and pay-TV service to residential users.

By the end of 2020, Radius Telecoms was able to generate Php1.4 billion in revenue and a net income of Php500 million.

For a quick background, Radius was established in 2020 and had a congressional franchise to construct, install, establish, operate, and maintain commercial purposes in the public interest. Plus, provide basic and enhanced telco services in the Philippines.

It’s a subsidiary of Meralco under the eMeralco Ventures Inc.
