Smart Communications, Inc., a subsidiary of the telco giant PLDT, has received a global citation for its improved network.
Independent analytics firm OpenSignal recently held its Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2020, which named Smart Communications as one of the “global rising stars” for its improvements in 4G availability.
The said “Global Rising Stars” is defined as the top 30 providers where the users have experienced a big improvement in their network experience for the past year. That’s between the first half of 2019 and the first half of the current year, 2020.
It’s said that, during that period, Smart 4G availability has increased by 17.9%. The study was garnered from 403 billion measurements from about 96 million devices from January 1 to June 28, 2019 and 2020, in more than 180 operators across 50 countries.
Since 2017, Smart 4G availability scores have increased by 27.8 points. That’s from 59.1% coverage in Q4 of 2017, to 86.9% in Q2 of 2020. Smart’s coverage shall further increase and improve as they recently tapped 6 companies to built more cell sites.
Other than the 4G availability, Smart also surpassed the competition in terms of download and upload speed experiences and video experience.
