The pioneer device sporting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google Nexus 7 has finally arrived in the Philippines. Announced way back in Google I/O, this device got numerous positive feedbacks because of its good specs and excellent price. This tablet was made in partnership of Google and Asus in line to the next Android update. As we all know, every new Nexus device brings in an upgrade to Android.

Google Nexus 7 features a 7-inch display with a 1280×800 pixel resolution and IPS technology to cater you greater viewing angles and clearer colors. However, standing at a not so large resolution, it will not be the sharpest display you’ll see out there – if you’re too geeky. Asus Nexus 7 will be powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip clocked at 1.3GHz and a 12-core GeForce GPU for graphics enhancement. A now common 1GB of RAM will also be packed in to make sure that the tablet will run as smooth as possible even with high-definition games and apps.

When it comes to connectivity, it will have the Near Field Communication (learn more about NFC here), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Yes, there’s no 3G or 4G data connectivity available. Sad yet? If this tablet has support for built-in 3G, this may be a good contender to compete with the new iPad.

As expected even before its official unveiling, the Google Nexus 7 will be the first one to use the latest update to the Android mobile operating system – Jelly Bean. Not only that, two apps namely; Youtube and Maps, were given makeovers to enrich the user experience with the help of Nexus 7’s HD display. One weird thing though is that is doesn’t have the standard of a rear camera, instead it only has a 1.2MP front-facing camera.

In spite of all this features, the most important factor that may greatly contribute to Google Nexus 7’s success, is its price. Selling for only $199 for the 8GB model and $249 for the 16GB variant, this is one of the cheapest branded tablet with high quality specs you’ll ever see. Wanting to get the Nexus 7 in the Philippines? Asus Google Nexus 7 was available unofficially in Villman Computers a few days ago for 18k but when I checked it today, it is nowhere to be found. Maybe they run out of stock due to the high demand. In the meantime, let’s just wait for the official Asus Nexus 7 tablet release in the Philippines. It will be available in two colors; black and white. I’ve listed below the peso conversion of its SRP. However, don’t expect to see that kind of price here since taxes will and other fees will still be added.

Google Nexus 7 price in the Philippines if directly converted to peso:

  • 8GB $199 – Php8,950 (estimate Php13,000)
  • 16GB $249 – Php11,200 (estimate Php15,000)

  1. hintayin q nlang ang Asus Google Nexus 7 Cellular..konti lang nman ang difference sa price… :(

      1. Ok. Yun nga po ang ginawa ko, pasensya na kulang yung tanong ko. What I mean is how can I activate the SIM and register in their promos? DI kasi made for texting and calling ang google nexus 7. Salamat.
