Aside from the new Titan, a successor to the Cherry Mobile Flare is also spotted. Dubbed as the Cherry Mobile Burst, this device seem to feature identical specifications with the Flare and interestingly, the same price tag of Php3,999. So the question is: Will Cherry Mobile Burst replace the Flare?

Cherry Mobile Flare is arguably the most successful local smartphone to date but although it did managed to get the spotlight, lots of controversies aroused during its reign. For one, the software bugs on the auto-rotate, missing FM radio app, and g-sensor issue ignited tons of complaints from slightly unsatisfied Flare users. But thankfully, Cherry Mobile addressed all of those problems through a software update. What I’m pointing out here is simple – if this will replace the Cherry Mobile Flare on their sub-Php4k level, then I think the reason is that they want to remove the negative thoughts that were built beside the Flare.

Moving on to the Cherry Mobile Burst, it looks like they want to wipe out all those complaints and start over again with a new handset. It’s very hard to replicate such a huge success, but given the right price and specs, it’ll be a no brainer. And yes, that’s what they did with the Burst. This looks like a smash hit in the making, indeed.

Cherry Mobile Burst Specs and Features

Cherry Mobile Burst will flaunt a 4-inch WVGA IPS display that’s large enough for the casual pinoys who are not so fond of playing games in their smartphone. At a 233 ppi, it will render a crisp and beautiful display unlike other CM android phones who have significantly bigger screen but with the same WVGA resolution. Also, given its small size, it is also very convenient to use and will fit in the pocket seamlessly.

Slightly downgraded 1GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM, ICS

A 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will run the show and I bet the standard 512MB RAM will be its companion. It is 200MHz short when compared to Flare, but that won’t really hurt the performance that much. This processor will be enough to handle most HD games that you’ll throw at it and though it’ll have some glitches (based on other 1GHz dual-core smartphones), it won’t be very irritating and it will not ruin the whole gaming experience.  As for the basic smartphone functions, Cherry Mobile Burst will be smooth as long as you don’t bombard it with tons of widgets that will eat up the memory considerably.

Connectivity: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS

Cherry Mobile Burst runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich just like its siblings (except Omega). Other features such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS are also included. In terms of camera, it will use a 5-megapixel rear camera with flash and a VGA (to be confirmed) front facing camera. All the typical android goodies are here so that’s really nice since you’ll be getting a fully-packed smartphone at cheap price.

Battery capacity: Still unknown

The most crucial downfall of the Flare, the battery, will be up for a test on the Cherry Mobile Burst. We all know how Flare users suffered from their mediocre battery (probably because they use it too much) but 1500mAh is still a fair amount actually. We’re hoping that Cherry Mobile addressed the problem this time by picking up an android phone with a higher battery capacity. Anything more than 2000mAh would be great and it will surely skyrocket the sales of this device if that will be the case. However, since it’s just Php3,999, we can’t really expect much.

So that’s it for now, folks. We’ll just update you for any information on the Cherry Mobile Burst. Do you think it’s time to replace the Flare? Hit the comments section and let us know what you think!

  3. Helo po please help po. need ko comment nyo? bakit po nag aautomatic back ang cherry mobile burst ? kunwari kapag nag click ako ng application kapag mag baback lang ako. super back ang nangyayari napupunta na sa wallpaper. gets nyo po ba?

  4. Used this phone for about 6 months or more (Sun plan). Big problem sa RAM, naglalag especially kung mahilig ka sa apps like instagram chu chu or mahilig maglagay ng widgets. I don’t also use the music player kasi nagsiskip yung mga kanta. Napakabagal kahit na 8gb na yung external memory ko and even if I had deleted my fave apps, ganun pa rin. Flare is better I think, or wag na lang Cherry Mobile. Hehe…very affordable nga pero I’m not getting what I’ve paid for. Boo!
