Cherry Mobile is really on a roll, and there’s no sign of stopping. Along with the Cherry Mobile Omega HD, they surprisingly announced the first ever local quad-core android phone in the Philippine market. Hit the break to know more about the Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0.
Cherry Mobile has hidden the Flame 2.0 under Cherry Mobile Omega HD’s launching event – and just like the Flare Up Event, they surprised us with an awesome android-powered device partnered with an incredibly low price tag. In fact, it’s so low that we thought they’re going nuts! No, not really. But that’s what the majority of us (Pinoys) felt. Now, we’re back to seeing another game-changing smartphone, but the battery dilemma was even more severe than what we’ve expected.

The Flame 2.0 flaunts a 4.5-inch qHD IPS display with One Glass Solution technology which is already above average if we’ll take the current competition as comparison. Time flies fast and it seems like it was just yesterday when we were astonished by the ultra-affordable android phones with WVGA displays. But as time pass by, people grew excited on the pixel density war – wanting the highest ppi they could get their hands to. Only a few select pinoy android phones have qHD displays and we’re fortunate enough to have another one on the list.
Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 features a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (not Pro) processor and 1GB of RAM – the most awaited specs configuration that we’ve all been waiting for. We first thought that local quad-core phones will make their way on our marketplace by Q3, but Cherry Mobile pulled another trick to bring it earlier than our calculation. It will be here by as early as next month, though we still have doubts on it’s nationwide availability after its official release then. After all, they haven’t deployed enough Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt units yet that’s why it’s still not available on most CM kiosks and retailers. But we’re still hopeful that they would address that stock issues here in Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 and Omega HD.

Other highlights of the smartphone is its 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and VGA front camera which has a Dual-camera mode that can also be seen on the newly announced Galaxy S4. So what’s with the Dual-camera mode? Well, it’s one nifty feature that lets your rear and front camera take photos simultaneously together and overlay it on top of the other. The usual connectivity options are here as well such as Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, and Bluetooth.

If you think that the battery life of the Cherry Mobile Flare is horrible, then you will be very upset to know that despite being a quad-core android phone, the battery capacity is left out. The Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 only has a 1600mAh battery – which is pretty low in today’s standards. Gone were the days that all android phones couldn’t last a day of moderate usage. Manufacturers learned through their mistakes – but not of all them. Anyway, for its price of only Php6,999, that’s one of the best deals you can get.
Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 will be available next month with a price tag of Php6,999. What do you think? Is the poor battery capacity a deal breaker for you? Or is it a decent trade-off for the better CPU and RAM? Let us know in the comments!

I’ve had this phone for a couple of days now. It is superb when it comes to full feature apps. High demand 3d games are smooth as silk.
I rooted the phone immediately and got rid of all the crapware from both cherry and google. After a few minutes of tinkering with my new toy. i noticed a major bug!!!
The wifi switch of the device gets stuck when you turn it off and on again. then it just stays stuck on “connecting to wifi” i tried to do a CWM recovery and reset the unit to factory settings and simply reinstalled all utility apps i use. no help….
its still stuck. I tried looking for the stock rom of the Karbonn S1 Titanium online but there seems to be no one who did a stock rom backup of this yet. no help from the CM website either. can somebody please create a stock rom ZIP for this just in case others encounter the same issues i did?

Not good.
ferrari specs malamang mahal
vios specs..mura
:))
tama!
same ba sila na adreno 203?
nice review but as you said the problem is the battery bcuz the capacity is to low.. so for a quadcore processor device madali syang mag drain that was a major problem of this device but over all
great phone for its spec.. only the battery…
Pahirapan n ngangg maghanap ng stocks mas pahiral pg defective unit n nbili mo ubos idang araw mo.. tangeneng yan lagi walang stocks fusion bolt.
d nmn raw masama ang battery ksi merong libreng power bank…and depende nrin sa paggamit
for me malaking bagay ung battery kasi ayaw kong palaginf nkakasaksak sa charger cp ko…
mganda ung suggestion ni Ferdinand a seperate purchase for a long lasting battery will do… since ung bat lang naman ang malaking downside nya
Hi Adam, nice preview article. Question lang, why do you think manufacturers (local or branded) do not sell compatible batteries with higher capacity, so that buyers will have the option to “upgrade” their units stock battery? Of course, there are power banks, but one that readily replaces & fits in the unit makes more sense.
Hi, I think they don’t want to sacrifice the design of their smartphones and they want it to be as thin as possible. There are other brands which make high capacity battery for smartphones though. One example is Mugen. They sell a Samsung Galaxy Note (and others) battery of around of 5000mAh but since a bigger battery means it’s bulkier, it comes with an extra back case to handle the thicker build. If you don’t mind having a thick smartphone, then that’s already a good deal.
pros: quad-core, jellybean & 1 gig ram
cons: 5mp rear camera, only vga front camera and only 1600mAh battery. para sakin big let down yung battery
Isama mo sa cons yong poor quality and service support.
