Just months after the Doogee Mix impressed us with its bezel-less screen, Doogee is already back with a follow-up. The aptly named Doogee Mix 2 is a major step up from its predecessor.
In our Doogee Mix review, we admired how the device looked thanks to its almost bezel-less design. So we’re expecting something more in this next iteration. And judging by the official renders and details, we’re expecting the same, or even better, experience on this handset when we get our hands on it.
The Doogee Mix 2 adapts the 18:9 screen aspect ratio — just like on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and other flagships. However, Doogee’s take will leave the forehead on the top, instead of completely removing it just like what Xiaomi did. This allowed the company to cram the dual-camera setup at the top. Now, it’s no longer awkwardly situated at the chin of the device.
Going back to the display, this phone has a 5.99-inch bezel-less screen, with a resolution of 2160 x 1080. As per Doogee, the handset has a body of a standard 5.5-inch device despite having a much taller screen estate at 5.99-inches. We can expect to see more 5.99-inch devices in the future as the 18:9 aspect ratio and almost bezel-less display goes mainstream.
And in case you missed it, the Doogee Mix 2 is indeed rocking dual cameras in front and at the back. There’s an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and another one with a 130-degree wide-angle lens for group pictures.
At the back it also two cameras, making this a quad-camera equipped smartphone. There are 16-megapixel and 13-megapixel dual cameras at the back. It’s not clear if it does have optical zoom like the previous generation but Doogee is highlighting its Blur mode “professional algorithm” feature.
Doogee is also introducing a new security feature called 3D Facial Recognition. As what you might expect, it is aimed to work like the iPhone X’s Face ID. The phone will also utilize USB Type-C, moving on from the standard microUSB port.
Inside the Doogee Mix 2 is running on a MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor, with 6GB of RAM and a roomy 128GB of expandable storage.
