The Android space is experiencing a huge shakeup. Chinese manufacturers are emerging fast, and the prominent names in the industry are starting to feel the effect.
Huawei is easily one of the fastest-growing tech brands in recent years. Their current release, the P30 series, will aim to keep the momentum going for them.
While the high-end P30 and P30 Pro devices sure are exciting, what we like to talk about here is the more affordable, midrange sibling of the two — the Huawei P30 Lite.
Much like all their previous releases, the P30 Lite aims to take on the offerings of bigger names like Samsung — who by which also launched the similarly-priced Samsung Galaxy A50. But unlike their previous releases, Samsung’s latest packs more power and features that will hopefully lure back in those who are looking for bang-for-the-buck products.
With that, here in our Huawei P30 Lite vs Samsung Galaxy A50 specs comparison, we shall see which between these two is for you. Let’s begin.

Samsung has really created something really impressive with the Samsung Galaxy A50. Before this device, they are coming up with budget-friendly products that almost has no match with Huawei’s. But this time, I think Sammy is getting the win.
The Galaxy A50 has a bigger 6.4-inch screen, with a more vibrant Super AMOLED screen. That’s obviously more impressive than the 6.15-inch IPS panel that the latter has.
Its AMOLED display also allowed Samsung to put a more dated in-display fingerprint scanner. While the Huawei P30 Lite utilizes a more traditional rear-mounted biometrics security.
The Samsung Galaxy A50 has a bigger 4,000mAh battery. Which shall provide better longevity than what 3,340mAh battery that the P30 Lite have.

But to the P30 Lite’s credit, it does have a sharper 32-megapixel selfie camera than the 25-megapixel snapper that the former has. It also features Huawei’s GPU Turbo 2.0 technology that will make games run smoother. Although the Exynos 9610 processor on the Galaxy A50 shall provide better power right off the bat for productivity and general tasks.
The P30 Lite and Galaxy A50 also share the same triple camera setup on the back, with a 25-megapixel primary sensor, and 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a depth sensor. They also have 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and runs on the latest Android 9 Pie software with their own manufacturer’s skin on top.
To sum it up, it really feels like the Samsung Galaxy A50 offers the better value between the two. It retails for Php17,990, which is Php1,000 more expensive than the P30 Lite, you’re already getting a smartphone with a better screen, a more powerful processor, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a bigger battery.
But if you really want to save that price premium, then you might want to settle for the Huawei P30 Lite, which retails at a slightly cheaper price of Php16,990. By doing so, you can enjoy its sharper selfie snapper, smarter camera software, and better gaming performance.
The Samsung Galaxy A50 is now available nationwide, while the Huawei P30 Lite will hit the shelves starting April 10, 2019.
I have always been a fan of Samsung products. With such high configuration and amazing battery life, it is surely a winner.
