Huawei is milking more money with their old, still-GMS-supported smartphones with the release of the Huawei P30 Pro New Edition.
The P30 Pro was the last Huawei flagship to come with GMS. Their latest high-end releases such as the Mate 30 and P40 series are striving but appears to miss the target with the lack of GMS support. Hence the release of the Huawei P30 Pro New Edition.
But to be eligible to use GMS, Huawei can’t modify what’s inside of this device. It still has last generation’s Kirin 980 flagship processor, a 6.47-inch FHD+ OLED display, and a 4,200mAh with 40W SuperCharge support. It may be a year old, but it should still bring a reliable flagship performance — the reason why we gave it a high rating in our full review.
It also comes with the same quad-camera setup on the back. There’s the 40-megapixel main shooter, 20-megapixel ultra-wide, and the famed 8-megapixel periscope-style telephoto lens. A 32-megapixel selfie snapper is on the front. Our camera test detailed all of its impressive camera prowess.
So the question is, what’s new on the P30 Pro New Edition? Well, the color. This thing now comes with a Silver Frost color option, a sleek and clean paint job that debuted on the P40 Pro. It’s also available in the legacy Black and Aurora color options. Other than that, it’s the same as before.
The Huawei P30 Pro New Edition has a price of EUR749 (~Php40,800) and is now up for pre-order in Germany. Its release details in other markets such as the Philippines is yet to be announced. However, we expect it to have the same retail price as the initial model, which is now at Php40,390 in Lazada.
