LG have announced via their official blog that their new entry into the tablet party, the LG G Pad 8.3, will go on sale in South Korea next week, October 14 to be exact. It will be sold directly online as well as in malls and other shops in the country.
Fret not, however, as LG promises to release it in at least 30 countries by the end of the year. It’s expected that their home country will get the first slice. So, while it’s not yet officially released here in the Philippines, your best bet would be online stores like Kimstore, Widget City, etc.
We’ve previously featured LG’s official announcement of the tablet here. As a recap, here are the specs:
LG G Pad 8.3 Specs
- 8.3″ WUXGA display (1920 x 1200)
- 1.7GHz quad core Snapdragon 600 processor
- Adreno 320 GPU
- Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage, expandable via microSD up to 64GB
- 5mp rear / 1.3mp front
- 4,600mAh battery
- Dimensions: 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3mm
- Weight: 338g
Along with that announcement is the price: WON 550,000 – or roughly PHP 22,200. This puts the tablet in the high end market, which isn’t surprising given the specs above. It’s competing directly with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0. It also faces stiff competition from the current (arguably) King of Tablets: ASUS Nexus 7, though the inclusion of a larger screen and microSD support may still sway some despite the higher price tag.
This is second time LG tried to get a slice of the sweet, sweet tablet market pie. The first outing, the Optimus Pad, was lackluster, so they’re hoping that the second time’s the charm. So, anyone considering to pick this baby up? Do you think LG will finally be able to penetrate the tablet market through LG G Pad 8.3, or would it be back to the drawing board?

After that dogturd of a tablet called the Nexus 7 disappointed many, many people, this is THE tablet of 2013, yung pinsan ko sa Michigan kwento niya naka tatlong palit sa N7 puro defective yung touchscreen, ended up refunding it kahit na may re-stocking fee.
