Chinese smartphone giant OPPO has been in the news lately not because of its innovative VOOC fast charging technology that propelled the R9 but because of its powerful camera system that’s going to be inside its new smartphones.
From the OPPO F1, F1s, and to the R9s, OPPO has always ensured mobile photography is well taken care of. The company has even taken the bar higher by introducing its latest smartphone camera innovation which it calls the 5X technology.
The new 5X technology is a dual camera setup which OPPO uses to achieve 5X precision Optical Zoom. The system utilizes a telephoto and wide-angle lens setup as well as a prism which diverts light in a periscopic arrangement. The 5X camera technology gives users the ability to capture highly detailed images. Here’s how it works; the prism, forming a periscope, diverts light onto a telephoto lens which then results in an unprecedented level of zoom clarity due to the divergence.
The dual-lens 5X camera technology also comes with a new optical image stabilization which helps fine tune the telephoto lens’ image. When the prism’s angle is adjusted in increments of 0.0025 degrees, it results in up to 40% better performance than the previous generation of OIS.
OPPO left off short of disclosing when we’d see this technology inside new a smartphone but we hope it’ll find its way soon. The OPPO Find 9 still eludes us but there are thousands of fans who wish the company would include this breakthrough technology on the Find 9 if ever it actually exists. There is no sign that the company is having any upcoming smartphone right now, but they will surely announce one soon.
